Bridal Hair and Makeup Timeline: Planning Your Wedding Day Beauty Schedule

Wedding-day beauty goes wrong when it's rushed. Not the morning of — the months before. Below is the timeline our bridal hair team at Caribbean Queen recommends to Charlotte brides, from six months out to the moment you walk down the aisle.

Six months out: book your stylist and set a vision

Charlotte bridal calendars fill fast, especially for spring and fall weddings. As soon as your venue and date are locked, book your hair and makeup team. Start a Pinterest board or save-photos folder now — you'll refine it over the next few months, but having a starting point helps at your trial.

Four months out: color and cut plan

If you're changing your hair color for the wedding, start the transition now. Big color changes need multiple sessions and you want your final shade locked in six to eight weeks before the wedding, not the week of. Same for a big cut — leave time to grow out anything you don't love.

Three months out: skincare routine locked

Whatever skincare you're doing at the wedding, be doing it by now. This is not the moment to try a new retinol, a new peel, or a new facial. Your makeup will sit on the skin you have — start caring for it early.

Six to eight weeks out: hair and makeup trial

Book your trial for the same time of day as your wedding, if possible. Wear a white or ivory top. Bring your veil, any hair accessories, and photos. Do a full day in the look — take it to dinner, see how it holds up in humidity, take photos in different light. This is your one chance to change your mind without pressure.

Two weeks out: final skin and hair prep

Book a facial no later than two weeks out — never the week of. Get a hydration or gloss treatment to lock in shine. Trim any split ends. Do not experiment with new products.

Three days out: last blowout, last touchups

A Dominican blowout two to three days before the wedding gives your hair the smoothness and body it needs without looking too fresh. Your manicure and pedicure also belong in this window.

The morning of

Eat something. Hydrate. Wear a button-down so you don't pull anything over your head. Give yourself a 30-minute buffer at the end of hair and makeup for photos, veil placement, and touchups. The best bridal timelines are the ones that leave room to breathe.
